It was Ashland's last year in the North
Central Ohio League. When the AHS adopted the T-formation, they
opened with five victories including a record setting 71 points
and 489 yards against Bucyrus. Injuries to Frank Glasser and Jim
Tharp ended the A's race against co-champs Marion and Galion.
Western Wiles and Merle McKinley were all-league first-teamers.
Bob Miller's 35-yard TD pass to Jim Zimmerman in the last 8 seconds
of the season was a thrilling conclusion to Coach Buckner's final
year. |
