An end to the storied Mansfield rivalry
with five victories in 27 meetings. Bill McKee wrote, "Out-manned!"
But it was the most memorable upset in AHS grid history. Lester
Hesson's 58-yard pass interception return for a 4th quarter touchdown,
and his momentous PAT (on the homepage) gave the A's a classic
7-6 win. The marching band led an ecstatic parade from Redwood
Stadium to downtown. Every member of the team signed the game
ball, which can be seen in the AHS trophy case today. |
