Starn's "Mudhens" finished
in a second place NCO tie. When speedster Jim Jesson returned
the opening kickoff for an 82-yard TD, they beat Bucyrus for the
4th time in 16 years. The A's forced 3-way State Champion Mansfield
to use their first team for the entire game. The game was played
for a third straight year in a snowstorm, so the Athletic Board
decided to end the Thanksgiving Day games. Graduation took nine
seniors and Harry Smith, who finished a brilliant four-year career.
However, the future looked "rosy" with returning all-NCO's
John Depler and Nick Dolby. Also, the Junior Kids league began
the next season as a feeder program for the JV and Varsity teams. |
