New coach John "Red" Longley,
whose Logan team was undefeated, had a nucleus of 7 lettermen.
His line averaged 168 pounds, and they ranged from Bob McPherson
(205) to Capt. Bud Plank (140). Super star Bus Hockensmith, who
had several leg injuries, was paired with Joe Harvath, but the
A's still had to settle for 2nd place after another lost to Mansfield.
Nevertheless, they beat Marion for the 7th straight year on the
day Guy C. Myers Field House was dedicated at Y-Field. |
