The loss of Howard Fackler with a broken ankle left the A's with only Ray Bates and Dick Scott as returning lettermen. MVP Phil Lersch played brilliantly against Shelby with three touchdowns and three interceptions to beat the Whippets and their new coach the legendary Bill Wilkins. The Orange and Black posted their second victory on the passing of sophomore QB George Glasser and the return of Howard Fackler in the season finale against Galion.
